Reach – an award winning animation by Luke Randall

The following short film by character animator Luke Randall is about a

“…tiny robot [who] is given the gift of life with only one limitation, the length of his power cable. When a curious bird appears at the workshop window, the robot feels a lust to live outside of his reach that may be his demise.”1

The film was created over the course of 8 months after hours using using Maya, Photoshop and After Effects and represents Luke Randall’s Animation Mentor graduate film project.2 Luke has been awarded several awards for his work on the film including 2nd Place/Finalist – Cannes Short Film Corner Online Competition 2009 and Winner Best Animation – DeReel Independent Film Festival ’09.1 Visit lukerandall.com for more on Randall’s work and www.reachthefilm.com for more on the film.
